Highlights of 2014

It is the time of year when we all get nostalgic and reflect back on the years events.  These were my library highlights.
  • Rebecca- Winning the review competition at the Scottish Childrens Book Awards.
  • Book group -  For an exciting day at the Mitchell Library Glasgow at the Book Awards. Great place to play hide and seek amongst the book stacks after dark!
  • Barry Hutchison who scared the pants off us then made us roar with laughter. Brilliant!
  • The Debaters- Winning West Lothian Speaks was just fantastic. Mind you -   half an hour to prepare speeches for the final was a little bit nervewracking! Well done to everyone!
  • Our fantastic art installation.A great way to make use of old books.
  • Our new staff/ senior student Book Group. Look forward to our coffee and treats after each holiday read.
  • And of course all the fabulous library helpers who keep me amused and sometimes just a little bemused each day!                                                                                                                                                           Let me know what you enjoyed in the library in 2014.

The Maze Runner book trailer

Just about to start reading The Maze Runner.
Is this just another run of the mill dystopian title?

This book trailer comes from CinemaBook Trailers and is described as speculative and not related to the film. If you have read the book you might want to comment.

An interesting look at the history of Christmas

Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Armadale Academy Library Blog. If you are a frequent reader on here, then it's good to have you back. If not, then I would personally like to welcome you and hope you are able to read and find the desired posts and books!
My name is Heather and I am a student at Armadale Academy who has been selected to man the blog that represents our school's library.
This would be a good place to find out what is happening with new books and clubs within the library, for example: Book Group begins tomorrow, new first years are welcome!
If at some point during a holiday, you realise there's a book you want the library to get, this would be another good place to go to.
This is just a short post, introducing the blog again and I hope to write to you soon.
-Heather.

All are welcome to our first meeting of the Book Group for the term. In future we will divide into our Junior and Senior Books groups but this Wednesday we will have a get together for everyone to discuss their summer reading and create colourful Wobblers for our school library.
