Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Armadale Academy Library Blog. If you are a frequent reader on here, then it's good to have you back. If not, then I would personally like to welcome you and hope you are able to read and find the desired posts and books!
My name is Heather and I am a student at Armadale Academy who has been selected to man the blog that represents our school's library.
This would be a good place to find out what is happening with new books and clubs within the library, for example: Book Group begins tomorrow, new first years are welcome!
If at some point during a holiday, you realise there's a book you want the library to get, this would be another good place to go to.
This is just a short post, introducing the blog again and I hope to write to you soon.

Book Group  - Wed from 1.20

All are welcome to our first meeting of the Book Group for the term. In future we will divide into our Junior and Senior Books groups but this Wednesday we will have a get together for everyone to discuss their summer reading and create colourful Wobblers for our school library.

Creative writing workshop

Author Henrietta Bond visited our school to talk to pupils in the Book Group about creative writing.

Food and scarves were used to improve their descriptive talents! A wonderful day was enjoyed by all.

I like Big Books

               This is a fabulous movie celebrating literacy from Larbert High School.

Blood Red Road

If you have read and loved the "Hunger Games" why not try "Blood Red Road "by Moira Young. This exciting first book in the Dustlands series has another strong female character fighting for survival.
 In the Dustlands,

you fight or you die.

World Book Day competitions

Congratulations to Eoghan Hyde S3 and Holly Cairns S1 who were winners in out Wimpy Kid competition.
Well done to all the S1 who participated so enthusiastically in the speed dating with books.

Remember to use your World Book Day vouchers in bookshops by 24th March. We will still accept them for Scholastic magazine orders until the end of the month.

Senior Reading Group - Call for participants.

We are looking for seniors who enjoy reading to join a new reading group as part of a project with other schools. 

In particular any of the students who enjoyed the talk by writer Lisa Ballantyne (picture on right- Lisa is a former Armadale student) and wish for more of the same please consider taking part.
